Letter from Youth Exchange "Puzzle Europe"
I knew nothing about the “Youth Exchange”. I just listened that everybody enjoy in this kind of exchange and that enrich yourself.
By chance, a trainer offered me to go to Turkey for a youth exchange to talk about the European Community. This was the theme, to speak about the European Community and to exchange the culture between the five countries participants: Slovenia, Latvia, Portugal, Turkey and Greece. Finally, I decide to go representing Greece and the Greek culture with another 5 people. I met them just in the airport and since the first moment they dealt with me like really friends.
From the 28th of January until 6th of February I went to Alanya, a city very beautiful in the south of Turkey. The name of the project was “Puzzle Europe” and we were 6 people from each country and 6 coordinators. 35 young people very friendly and ready to show and explain to the others countries theirs cultures, food, parties, minds, kinds of lives, something about their languages,…
It was really amazing to share all this days with this people. I know nobody that didn’t enjoy and learn about this experience. I could see when everybody was crying the last day because the project finished.
And for me was even different. I am Spanish but I was representing another county. I had to represent Greece and everything that involve the Greek culture and I was able to do it. It was really satisfactory”

"what can I do?, how can I use all the things that I΄ve learnt?, how to share this experience with the others? what should I do if I want to continue collaborating in the activities of the Youth in Action programme? or what about other different options?".
This seminar is supportative also help for people working in organisations with EVS volunteers or who are involved in the EVS field. Seminar should help people to answers and show the possibilities "how can they help to their volunteers, how to motivate them for continueing working in a similar line after their projects are finished, if it is possible to make any kind of collaboration between european countries".
Seminar is composed by several workshops and sessions, where we want to show to the participants different posibilities of continueing working in different initiatives after the evs, as for example preparing youth exchanges (action 1.1) or maybe seminars (action 4. 3), being mentor of an EVS volunteer or working in youth initiatives (action 1. 2).
Seminar is focused on EVS as an experience of the Youth in Action programme and as a base of follow-up in the Youth in action programme, youth work, field of nonformal education, sustainable development.

Training Course "Maximizing Participative Inclusion During University Experience"
Από τις 2 ως τις 10 Φεβρουαρίου 2008 πραγματοποιήθηκε ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον σεμινάριο στην Άγκυρα της Τουρκίας, με πρωτοβουλία ομάδας του Πανεπιστημίου METU, που αφορούσε την ενσωμάτωση των φοιτητών και σπουδαστών με ειδικές ανάγκες και αναπηρίες στην ομαλή ακαδημαϊκή, αλλά και κοινωνική ζωή του Πανεπιστημίου.
Στα πλαίσια της επιμόρφωσης της ομάδας του Κέντρου Κινητικότητας Νέων, αλλά και άλλων νέων και επαγγελματιών της πόλης, η ομάδα που συμμετείχε στο συνέδριο – workshop, απαρτίζονταν από δύο μέλη του TerraNEON, τη ψυχολόγο Παπαστεργίου Μιχαέλα και τον EVS εθελοντή από την Τουρκία Halil OZ, που αντιπροσώπευαν την ελληνική συμμετοχή.
Οι χώρες που συμμετείχαν δια των αντιπροσώπων τους ήταν η Ιταλία, η Αγγλία, η Ελλάδα, η Τουρκία, η Λιθουανία, η Ισπανία, η Ρουμανία, η Βουλγαρία και η Πολωνία. Οι συμμετέχοντες ήταν φοιτητές με αναπηρίες, απόφοιτοι Πανεπιστημιακής Εκπαίδευσης, όπως και άτομα χωρίς αναπηρίες που έχουν ασχοληθεί με το θέμα ή εργάζονται σε ανάλογους φορείς.
Οι στόχοι του σεμιναρίου ήταν:
· Να βρεθούν τρόποι για την ενσωμάτωση και πλήρη αποδοχή των φοιτητών με αναπηρίες.
· Να συγκεντρωθούν πληροφορίες και εμπειρίες από διάφορες χώρες
· Να δημιουργηθεί μια βάση δεδομένων, όπου οι φοιτητές θα μπορούν να ανατρέχουν όταν θα αντιμετωπίζουν προβλήματα διακρίσεων εξαιτίας των αναπηριών τους, ώστε να μπορούν να εκφράζουν τις ανάγκες τους πιο ξεκάθαρα.
· Να εξελιχθούν και να εφαρμοστούν πρακτικές μέθοδοι κοινωνικής ενσωμάτωσης των ατόμων με αναπηρία στην ανώτατη εκπαίδευση και σε άλλους τομείς της ζωής.
· Να ενημερωθούν οι νέοι και οι οργανώσεις νέων σχετικά με το πρόγραμμα “Youth in Action”(Νέα Γενιά Σε Δράση).
Οι μέθοδοι που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν ήταν ενεργητική συμμετοχή, εργασία σε ομάδες, βιωματική εκπαίδευση, και θεωρητικές παρουσιάσεις από τους εκπαιδευτές του σεμιναρίου, δύο εκ των οποίων είναι εκπαιδευτές στην μη-τυπική εκπαίδευση και η τρίτη Καθηγήτρια στο πανεπιστήμιο METU της Άγκυρας. Το κυρίως θέμα των workshops ήταν η ζωή στο Πανεπιστήμιο και πώς οι φοιτητές με αναπηρίες θα μπορούν να ενσωματωθούν επιτυχώς σε κάθε εκπαιδευτική και ψυχαγωγική δραστηριότητα στον Πανεπιστημιακό χώρο. Επισκέψεις που πραγματοποιήθηκαν στην πόλη βοήθησαν τους συμμετέχοντες να ανταλλάξουν εμπειρίες και να σχεδιάσουν κοινά προγράμματα για το μέλλον.

What is GATA?
G.A.T.A - Give Action Take Attraction (GATA) is a training course for young people and youth workers
about implementation and innovation of non-formal education methods in Youth in Action projects

GATA is addressed to youth workers, trainers, youth leaders, coordinators, organisers of international

Saturday 8th to Saturday 15th of March 2008
(8 days including arrival and departure days)
The preparation the realisation and the evaluation of the project will be held in TerraNEON in Larissa,
Thessalia Region, Greece.
TerraNEON is the intercultural space of learning and technology of Youth Mobility Centre
TerraNEON is adaptable.
Flight destination: Athens (ATH) or Thessaloniki (SKG)
Aim of GATA
To improve and increase the quality of international youth projects by innovative non-formal education methods, through:
• the use of new methods, realizing objectives with more diverse resources;
• sharing experience of used training tools from lasting trainings and ones used in preceding projects from each group;
• rising of the activity of the young people in projects, through the selection of suitable methods to every group, the more active, more educated young people the better realized project objectives;
• the personal development of the trainers , leaders, youth- workers being a part of the project;
• sharing methods.
Objectives of GATA
• to inform about the Youth in Action Programme
• to create new youth projects
• to innovate character of working methods, themes and target groups
• skills, qualifications and personal development of the participants
Youth PASS
GATA training course leads to Youth Pass. Youth pass will be issued by the partner organisations with the
cooperation of the participants. Non formal group TerraNEON has participated in special training in
issuing Youth Pass.

"Let me be" in Larissa
A new Project against LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual)discrimination is born in Larissa, This project handles a European volunteer hosted by Youth Mobility Center Terra Neon in the framework of his EVS Activities.The location, available every afternoon to give information to people interested in the project, is in "TerraNEON", 51-53 Rusvelt Street in Larissa.
The Aims of the project is to share experience, to attempt action to raise public awareness and combat prejudices about the LGBT population.
The association is looking for Greek volunteers who want to support this project.
Ένα νέο πρότζεκτ που αφορά την καταπολέμηση των διακρίσεων κατά της LGBT κοινότητας (των ομοφυλοφίλων, μπαϊ σεξουαλ και τρανσέξουαλ) γεννιέται στη Λάρισα. Το πρόγραμμα προωθεί ένας εκ των εθελοντών από την Ευρώπη που φιλοξενούνται στην πόλη μας από το Κέντρο Κινητικότητας Νέων στα πλαίσια του Προγράμματος EVS (Ευρωπαϊκή Εθελοντική Υπηρεσία) με την υποστήριξη του Κέντρου.
Στο TerraNEON μπορεί να απευθυνθεί, όποιος επιθυμεί να λάβει περισσότερες πληροφορίες για το πρόγραμμα.

Topic: Exploring the common ground between three religions
The aim of the youth exchange is to promote inter-religious dialogue between Europe’s three most common monotheistic religions and to remove stereotypes. We want to make an open and friendly space to speak about the current conflicts and raise awareness of young people from different parts of Europe and different religions and teach them methods to deal with political and social problems. Through this project we want our youth to understand differences and show them that it is possible to respect people with different believes and share our communities in peace. The program will also target social and community problems. We will work on questions like ‘how can the development of society be influenced or affected by the three major religions’, ‘how does the increase of migration throughout Europe, and with it, the mixing of religious beliefs affect local communities?’ and ‘what are some of the similarities between the different religions, things which people are not very aware of?’

Below you find some practical information about the project:
First of all we counted on 5 participants of each country including 1 leader.
The age of the participants (at least the most) must be between 18 and 25 years old.
There has to be balance of gender among the participants of each country.
The program will be from the 25th till the 31th of May.
Both of these dates are as well travel as program days. For that we need to guarantee the time of arrival and departure:
On the 25th you have to arrive at Schiphol or Amsterdam between 12.00 and 15.00 o’clock pm. We will wait for all participants to arrive before going to Egmond.
On the 31th you can depart from Amsterdam Schiphol from 18.00 o’clock pm. The last night we will stay in a youth hostel in Amsterdam. If you want to stay longer you can inform us and we can help you to find your own lodging.
This program receives funding from the Youth in Action program of the European Commission. All food, accommodation and activities will be paid through the funding.
About the reimbursement: 70% percent of the travel costs will be reimbursed, for that we need to get several things.

By traveling by car in your country:- You have to show how many kilometres you have driven. For example by printing the trail on which you can see the amount of kilometres.- Costs for toll roads can only be reimbursed if you can show invoices.
Costs for food and drinks and overnight stays during traveling are not being reimbursed.
First of all we counted on 5 participants of each country including 1 leader.
The age of the participants (at least the most) must be between 18 and 25 years old.
There has to be balance of gender among the participants of each country.
The program will be from the 25th till the 31th of May.
Both of these dates are as well travel as program days. For that we need to guarantee the time of arrival and departure:
On the 25th you have to arrive at Schiphol or Amsterdam between 12.00 and 15.00 o’clock pm. We will wait for all participants to arrive before going to Egmond.
On the 31th you can depart from Amsterdam Schiphol from 18.00 o’clock pm. The last night we will stay in a youth hostel in Amsterdam. If you want to stay longer you can inform us and we can help you to find your own lodging.
This program receives funding from the Youth in Action program of the European Commission. All food, accommodation and activities will be paid through the funding.
About the reimbursement: 70% percent of the travel costs will be reimbursed, for that we need to get several things.

The accommodation is called ‘Lioba klooster’ based in Egmond-Binnen, in the dunes and near the beach, and near the lovely old city of Alkmaar, in the North-West part of Holland.

Narvik Peace Foundation
Το Κέντρο για την κινητικότητα των νέων συνεργάζεται στο τομέα της νεολαίας με το Narvik Peace Foundation. Το Narvik βρίσκεται στον Αρκτικό Κύκλο της Νορβηγίας και ο φορέας δραστηριοποιείται στην ιστορία των αιχμαλώτων πολέμων, και την εκπαίδευση νέων στην ειρήνη (peace building).
Το κοινό σχέδιο δράσης των δυο φορέων περιλαμβάνει:
την αποστολή 2 EVS εθελοντών από την Ελλάδα, για 9 μήνες στο Narvik Peace Foundation
την υποδοχή 2 EVS εθελοντών από την Νορβηγία, για 9 μήνες στο Κέντρο κινητικότητας νέων.
την αποστολή μιας ομάδας νέων από την Ελλάδα στο Narvik Peace Foundation με σκοπό την υλοποίηση μιας πολυμελούς συνάντησης 30 νέων 16-20 ετών, από 5 χώρες (Νορβηγία, Ελλάδα, Πολωνία, Σερβία και Ρωσία). Η συνάντηση θα γίνει στο Narvik από 5 ως 15 Αυγούστου 2008.

Τι είναι το EVS?????
EVS σημαίνει “European Voluntary Service” ή στα ελληνικά «Ευρωπαϊκή Εθελοντική Υπηρεσία»
Το EVS ενισχύει τη φωνή των νέων, και τους υποστηρίζει πριν, κατά τη διάρκεια και μετά το τέλος της ενεργής συμμετοχής του σε ένα τοπικό σχέδιο, σε χώρα διαφορετική της μόνιμης κατοικίας τους.
Tο EVS αφορά όλους τους νέους, από 18 ως 30 ετών, που διαθέτουν όρεξη και ενθουσιασμό για ενεργή συμμετοχή.
Οι EVS εθελοντές αφιερώνουν μέχρι και 12 μήνες σε ένα φορέα υποδοχής, και χρησιμοποιούν τις γνώσεις που απέκτησαν στις σπουδές τους, στη δουλειά τους καθώς και σε άλλες δραστηριότητες με τρόπο που έχει θετικό αντίκτυπο όχι μόνο στη ζωή τους αλλά και στους φορείς υποδοχής και στη τοπική κοινότητα γενικότερα. Πρόκειται για μια αξιόλογη εμπειρία χωρίς απρόοπτα, με ασφάλεια, που ωφελεί τους EVS εθελοντές στην μελλοντική προσωπική και επαγγελματική ανάπτυξή τους.
Στους EVS εθελοντές παρέχεται δωρεάν διαμονή, διατροφή, μαθήματα γλώσσας, προετοιμασία, εκπαίδευση, υποστήριξη και ασφάλιση, καθώς και ένα χρηματικό ποσό κάθε μήνα για κάλυψη προσωπικών εξόδων. Επιπλέον καλύπτονται τα έξοδα τοπικής μετακίνησης και το κόστος μετάβασης από το τόπο διαμονής τους στο τόπο υλοποίησης της υπηρεσίας και αντίστροφα.
Το EVS χρηματοδοτείται από το πρόγραμμα ΝΕΑ ΓΕΝΙΑ ΣΕ ΔΡΑΣΗ της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης.
Αφού οι EVS εθελοντές ολοκληρώσουν την υπηρεσία τους λαμβάνουν το Youth Pass, που πιστοποιεί τις γνώσεις και τις δεξιότητες που ανέπτυξαν κατά την παραμονή και τη συνεισφορά τους στις δραστηριότητες του φορέα υποδοχής και ενθαρρύνονται να αναπτύξουν προσωπικά σχέδια συνέχισης και εξέλιξης της εμπειρίας τους.
Οι φορείς υποδοχής και αποστολής εθελοντών EVS είναι μη κερδοσκοπικοί οργανισμοί, από τομείς όπως το περιβάλλον, η τέχνη και ο πολιτισμός, ο κοινωνικός αποκλεισμός, η πληροφόρηση των νέων, η πολιτιστική κληρονομιά κ.α. Οι φορείς εμπλέκονται ενεργά σε διεθνείς δραστηριότητες με διαπολιτισμικό χαρακτήρα, εξυπηρετούν καλύτερα τις ανάγκες των ομάδων στόχων, ενισχύουν τη δικτύωση τους με φορείς σε άλλες χώρες, αλλά και φρεσκάρουν το ενδιαφέρον και το κίνητρο του προσωπικού, των μελών και των ωφελούμενων.

Αν κάποιος θέλει να μάθει περισσότερα για το EVS μπορεί:
Να ψάξει στο ιντερνέτ, εκεί μπορεί να βρει λεπτομέρειες πλέον και στην ελληνική γλώσσα.
Να ρωτήσει πρώην συμμετέχοντες, φορείς αποστολής EVS εθελοντών, τα κέντρα πληροφόρησης νέων, τη Γενική Γραμματεία Νέας Γενιάς.
Επειδή μόνο λίγοι γνωρίζουν για το EVS, σχεδόν κανείς!,
εμείς μπορούμε να προωθήσουμε όλες, ή μέρος από αυτές τις πληροφορίες, σε όποια γλώσσα και με όποιο μέσο κρίνουμε κατάλληλο, ώστε αυτές οι πληροφορίες να φτάσουν σε όσους νομίζουμε ότι μπορεί να ωφεληθούν από το EVS, λαμβάνοντας υπόψη ότι δεν έχουν όλοι πρόσβαση στο ιντερνέτ, ούτε ξέρουν ξένες γλώσσες ή, και μπορεί ζουν σε γεωγραφικά απομακρυσμένες περιοχές
